Updated: 14-Year-Old Sprayed With Sensory Irritant In Mall Parking Lot


Officers assigned to the HRP/RCMP Integrated General Investigation Sections are investigating a report of an assault with a weapon earlier this afternoon in Halifax.

This is an update to the previously reported weapons complaint that occurred in the parking lot at the Halifax Shopping Center on Sept 7 at 12:04 pm. In this incident a 14 yr old female was sprayed with a sensory irritant of some kind. The HRP/RCMP Integrated General Investigation Section have arrested a 39 year old male party from the Halifax area in relation to this offence. The suspect is facing multiple weapons related charges including :
Administering a Noxious Thing
Assault with a Weapon
Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Weapon 
Possession of a Weapon Dangerous.
The accused in this matter has been released pending his court appearance on Oct. 30 at Halifax Provincial Court.
At 12:04 p.m., a 14-year-old girl was walking through the parking lot
at the Halifax Shopping Center when she was approached by a man and
sprayed with a sensory irritant. Emergency Health Services were called
to treat the victim at the scene. The suspect fled on foot heading
towards Bayers Road and is described as being a white man, approximately
20-years-old, 5’10” with a thin build and brown hair that is short
on the side and spiked up on top. At the time of the incident he was
wearing a light blue t-shirt, blue jeans and blue sneakers.
