Traffic Advisory – Newton Avenue – Water Main Replacement

(April 22, 2024) Beginning the week of April 22, construction work will begin on Newton Avenue, Halifax between Chebucto Road and Quinpool Road. Impacted water service customers have been notified in advance of this work.
Construction will take place from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM on weekdays. During this work, Newton Avenue will be closed to all traffic in sections between Chebucto Road and Quinpool Road, and local traffic only on Newton Avenue. A detour will be in place. The sidewalks will remain open along one side of the road. This project is expected to be completed in September 2024.
Motorists should expect delays and use alternate routes. Motorists are also reminded that speed fines double in work zones.
