RCMP release:
Inverness County District RCMP has charged six people after a home invasion in Waycobah.
On June 14, shortly before 5 a.m., Inverness County District RCMP was called to a residence on Tower Rd. for a home invasion that had just occurred.
Through the investigation, officers learned that the victim, a 33-year-old man, had been lured out of his home by a woman and then chased by four men who had arrived in a vehicle. The victim managed to escape, and the four men entered his home.
The suspects and victim are known to one another.
Officers made extensive patrols in the community and located the suspect vehicle. A 46-year-old man was found with the vehicle and arrested.
Later in the morning on June 14, Inverness County District RCMP attended a residence on Kitpu Dr. in Waycobah and located two more suspects, a 30-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman. The man attempted to flee, but was quickly arrested. During a subsequent search of the residence, officers located and seized several firearms.
A fourth suspect, a 28-year-old man, was found walking on Gabriel Sylliboy Rd. Upon seeing officers, the man ran into a wooded area, but was arrested a short time later.
Arrest warrants were obtained for two other men, a 36-year-old from Wagmatcook and a 19-year-old from Waycobah.
On June 17, just after 9:30 p.m., Victoria County District RCMP was called to a residence on Water Ln. in Wagmatcook for a man with a firearm. The man was identified as the 36-year-old who was wanted in relation to the home invasion in Waycobah. He was safely arrested. A pump-action shotgun and ammunition were seized from the home.
Lawrence MacCormick, 46, Jody Matthew Googoo, 30, Faith Blossom Bernard, 22, Desmond Herman Bernard, 28, Coady James Isadore, 36, and Landon Jakob Johnson, 19, have all been charged with the following offences, as a result of the June 14 incident:
- Robbery with a Firearm
- Break and Enter and Commit an Indictable Offence
- Using a Firearm in the Commission of an Offence
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
- Assault with a Weapon
As a result of the June 17 incident, Coady James Isadore has also been charged with the following offences:
- Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
- Failure to Comply with a Condition of Release Order (3 counts)
- Possession of a Prohibited Weapon
- Uttering Threats to Cause Bodily Harm or Death (2 counts)
- Resisting or Obstructing a Peace Officer
- Assaulting a Peace Officer
- Mischief Under $5,000
Lawrence MacCormick and Faith Blossom Bernard were released on conditions to attend Port Hawkesbury Provincial Court on August 7 at 9:30 a.m.
Jody Matthew Googoo and Desmond Herman Bernard were remanded into custody, to appear in Port Hawkesbury Provincial Court on June 26, at 9:30 a.m.
Coady James Isadore has been remanded into custody, to appear in Port Hawkesbury Provincial Court on June 27, at 9:30 a.m.
Landon Jakob Johnson is still wanted by the Inverness County District RCMP and efforts continue to locate him.
Inverness County District RCMP and Victoria County District RCMP continue to investigate.
