Two break into cottage, face charges

RCMP release:

Two people are facing charges after an investigation into a break and enter in East Berlin led to the seizure of drugs.

On April 23, at 6:40 p.m., Queens District RCMP responded to a break and enter in progress at a cottage on East Berlin Rd. Initial information indicated the owner had gone to the cabin and found an unknown vehicle in the driveway and at least one person inside the property.

Officers attended and safely arrested two people in the cottage: a 37-year-old man and a 34-year-old woman, both from Brooklyn.

Their vehicle, an Audi S4, was seized by officers and both suspects were released on conditions while the investigation continued.

On June 4, Queens District RCMP executed a search warrant on the seized Audi S4. In the search, officers seized bear mace, a knife, a machete, a quantity of drugs believed to be cocaine, a quantity of drugs believed to be crack-cocaine, and various drug-related paraphernalia.

As a result of the search, on June 13, officers arrested the 37-year-old man for drug-related offences. He was held in custody and later released on conditions.

James Mathew Stewart is charged with the following offences:

  • Break and Enter with Intent
  • Mischief Under $5,000
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose (3 counts)

Angel Dawn Patterson is charged with the following offences:

  • Break and Enter with Intent
  • Mischief Under $5,000
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance

Both Stewart and Patterson are due to appear in Bridgewater Provincial Court on August 28, at 9:30 a.m.
