10 Year Prohibition in German Shepherd Case

On January 9 2015 The Nova Scotia SPCA Cruelty Investigations team responded to a call regarding a male German Sheppard who was kept in a barn and receiving inadequate care.

Cruelty officers arrived on site to find the dog tethered with a metal collar deeply embedded in German Sheppard’s neck. The dog was seized from the property and taken for emergency medical care.

The veterinarian deemed the animal to be in such poor physical condition and due to the severity of his medical condition and lack of socialization; the German Sheppard had to sadly be euthanized.

John Jr. Crawley pled guilty and has been sentenced to a 10 year prohibition on owning animals in accordance with violating Section 22(b) of the Animal Protection Act; failure to provide adequate medical attention. In addition the prohibition Crawley has been ordered to pay $708.62 in restitution to the Nova Scotia SPCA.
