$1000 tickets issued for COVID-19 infraction

Halifax Regional Police issued two summary offence tickets last night for failing to comply with the regulations set out in the Health Protection Act.

Approximately 10:45 p.m. police received a report of a social gathering at a residence in Halifax that was exceeding the provincially mandated gathering limits. Officers issued summary offence tickets to two men for violating 71(1b) of the Health Protection Act which carries a fine of $1,000.

HRP is reminding everyone to follow the current public health measures related to the Covid-19 emergency. 

We strongly advise members of the public to educate and re-educate themselves on these public health directives and COVID-19 enforcement measures, including, those related to illegal gatherings and associated fines.
