1,037 vehicles stopped at checkpoints, 292 parking ban tickets issued over the weekend

Proactive driving checkpoints

In an ongoing effort to reduce impaired driving and address traffic safety, Halifax Regional Police officers conducted proactive checkpoints over the weekend in Halifax, Dartmouth and Bedford. During these check points, 1037 vehicles were stopped. As a result of these stops:

  • Three people were issued 7-day license suspensions for having a blood alcohol concentration between 50 mg% and 79 mg%
  • Nine summary offence tickets were issued for various motor vehicle act offences

Winter Parking

[Sunday] night, police issued 292 winter parking ban tickets. Four vehicles were towed under the Motor Vehicle Act for impeding snow removal and/or winter maintenance.

Complying with the parking ban allows for safe and more efficient snow removal. The fine for not complying with the winter parking ban in Nova Scotia is $86.60.
