Yarmouth Municipal RCMP has charged a business for violating Nova Scotia’s Health Protection Act.
At approximately 12:45 p.m. yesterday, police received a complaint of food truck employees in Yarmouth not wearing masks, as required by the Health Protection Act. Police attended and confirmed that none of the employees were wearing masks. The owner of the business advised that they refused to wear a mask because the public health restrictions are not “law.” Police charged the business under the Health Protection Act for operating in contravention of masking requirements. The fine amount was $11,622.50
The RCMP is reminding everyone to follow all public health orders and municipal bylaws. We all need to do our part to reduce the spread of COVID-19. The RCMP would like to thank Nova Scotians for their continued support, and express appreciation to the vast majority who are adhering to the directives outlined by the provincial government.
