12 Weeks Already

With each passing day I become more and more cognizant of how fast my little boy is growing up and how quickly these firsts are coming and going.  My little Peanut is now 12 weeks old.  Even through the usual struggles with a newborn (sleep or shower anyone?) are at times exhausting, you would think it would make the days seem longer, but 12 weeks have flown by in an instant.  Everyone said it, “how quickly they grow up” and I have made a point to keep that in mind every single day, taking in all of his smiles, all of his kicks, giggles, and coos and watching his wide eyes taking in more and more of this new world and I have untapped new levels of patience released purely for this purpose.

It’s truly incredible how much being a mother consumes your every thought and your entire existence (in a good way).  Every thought and sentence out of my mouth has something to do with my boy.  I must annoy those friends without children because right now I haven’t anything else on my mind.  I love this little boy in a way that it makes me feel like I am meant to be his Mom and I have the most important job in the world.  It’s a very challenging and difficult job, the most challenging thing I’ve ever done, but oh sooo rewarding just to see his beaming smiling face bursting when he wakes up in the morning and it’s time for his diaper change.  We could stare at each other all day exchanging smiles.  I have also developed quite a talent for coming up with silly songs and rhymes that I sing to him all day long which amuses the both of us I think 😉

Aside from all of the cliche gushy motherhood stuff, they don’t say that it’s difficult for nothing. We are emerging on the other side of the “4th trimester” and I’m starting to dust myself off and rub my eyes. The word stamina comes to mind along with the patience I spoke about earlier 😉  There is so much to say that I’m not sure where to begin, so I just might try to put together a separate post.  But for now, I just wanted to poke my head in here, tell you that I’m we’re doing well, my hands are slowly starting to be freed up for a bit more blogging perhaps and that I’ve missed you all.  If you follow me on Twitter, you may be a bit more up to date on some of the struggles I’ve had over the last month, but if not, stay tuned and I’ll do my best to share.
