13 days, 64 tickets, $11,520 in fines

HRP release:

September 1 to 13, Halifax Regional Police officers issued 64 tickets for motor vehicle violations.

Traffic and patrol officers focused their efforts on road safety in the area of Quinpool Road, specifically at Armview Avenue, Prince Arthur Street and Bloomingdale Terrace in relation to community concerns. Officers proactively educated motorists with respect to the no right turn 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. posted signs. Officers also issued 64 tickets for failing to obey sign prohibiting right turn and failing to obey traffic sign or signal. Each of these violations carry a fine of $180.00.

In a continued effort to address traffic safety issues and educate citizens on the rules of the road, our officers will continue to be at these locations to enforce the no right turn signs. We all have a role to play in keeping our roads safe. We would like to remind motorists to not solely rely on electronic mapping or GPS devices as the maps are not updated regularly and often do not alert motorists to these signs.
