13 sex-related charges against 19-year-old, police appeal to other victims

Inverness District RCMP has laid sexual assault charges against Hunter James Smith, 19-years-old, of Sugar Camp, Inverness County and is reaching out to the communities, in the event there are additional victims.

Two victims have been identified and the charges are in relation to incidents that occurred in Inverness County. Smith has been charged with:

·         Sexual Assault X 3

·         Sexual Interference X 3

·         Invitation to Sexual Touching X 3

·         Luring a Child X 2

·         Indecent Acts/Exposure X 2

Investigators believe there may be additional victims and want the public to know that the police can help. Anyone who feels they could be a victim, or has questions or information, is encouraged to contact the Port Hawkesbury RCMP at 902-625-2220.

Smith was released from custody with conditions imposed by the court on October 6. He is next scheduled to appear in Port Hawkesbury Provincial Court on October 26 at 9:30 a.m.

The investigation is continuing.
