15-Year-Old Shot, Sent To IWK

UPDATED 6:00am Jan 16/12 At 11:05 am Halifax Regional Police responded to an address in the 0-100 block of Lahey Road in Dartmouth for a report of a person shot. Officers located a 15 year old male inside a residence on Lahey Road suffering from what appeared to be a gunshot to his lower body.

At 11:05 am today Halifax Regional Police responded to an address in the 0-100 block of Lahey Road in Dartmouth for a report of a person shot. Officers located a 15 year old male inside a residence on Lahey Road suffering from what appeared to be a gunshot to his lower body. The male was transported to the IWK with non life threatening injuries.
 
Members of the HRP/RCMP Integrated General Investigation Section have completed their preliminary investigation and have concluded that this was an accidental self-inflicted gun shot wound. The 15 year old male victim remains in hospital at this time with non-life threatening injuries. Upon his release from hospital he will be facing weapons related criminal charges.
