15th Annual Responsible Gambling Awareness Week

Nova Scotians who gamble are being encouraged to balance that with other social activities. That is the message from the Nova Scotia Provincial Lotteries and Casino Corporation during the 15th annual Responsible Gambling Awareness Week, Sept. 25 to Oct. 1.

“For those who choose to gamble, and even those who don’t, the awareness week delivers important messages about balance,” said Bob MacKinnon, president and CEO of Nova Scotia Provincial Lotteries and Casino Corporation. “This is our opportunity to showcase what we do all year long to ensure players have the information they need to make good decisions about their play.”

The Responsible Gambling Resource Centre at Casino Nova Scotia locations will each host open houses Saturday, Sept. 24 and Oct. 1 from 2 p.m. to midnight. Staff will encourage players to learn about responsible gambling using interactive responsible gambling tools.

Responsible gambling ambassadors will deliver responsible gambling information at ticket and video lottery locations and give players an opportunity to complete an online responsible gambling quiz for a chance to win a prize.

“We believe a campaign that can both entertain and educate will be effective in keeping the conversation about responsible gambling top of mind,” said Mr. MacKinnon.

Nova Scotia Provincial Lotteries and Casino Corporation is the Crown corporation that manages the gaming industry in Nova Scotia.
