17-year-old attacked, sexually assaulted

At 8:52 pm on September 21st, 2013  Halifax Regional Police responded to a sexual assault and robbery in the area of the Dartmouth Commons. The victim, a 17 year old female, was walking in the area of Alderney Drive and Wyse Road when she was attacked, sexually assaulted and had her purse stolen. The victim described the suspect as a black male, with a small tattoo under one eye, early 20s, about 5’5” tall, wearing a baseball cap, bandana and dark tank top. A K9 team conducted a track into the Dartmouth Commons that led to the victim’s purse and cell phone. The victim was taken to the Dartmouth General where she was examined and then released. The matter is still under investigation and is being handled by the integrated Major Crime Section.
