Although party-goers thought it to be a firearm at first, police charged an 18-year old man with possession of a prohibited weapon early this morning after an altercation at a party.
From Halifax Police:
“At 0154 a.m. this morning police responded to a Ridge Valley Rd address in relation to a weapons complaint. A disturbance was reported in the parking lot , during which a party was reported to have pointed a firearm and then fled the scene in a black vehicle. This vehicle was stopped at the Rotary and searched. The searched recovered a large black can of Bear Spray . The passenger was charged with possession of a prohibited weapon. No firearm was found and it is believed that the witness mistook the bear spray for a firearm. The suspect in this matter , an 18 year old male, was charged with possession of a prohibited weapon and released on a promise to appear.”
