High risk arrest in Hwy 111 (Updated)
At approximately 8:25 pm Halifax Regional Police located a vehicle that was travelling toward the MacKay Bridge on Hwy 111. Information had been received that there may be a firearm located in the vehicle. A High Risk vehicle stop was conducted on Hwy 111 near the exit to Hwy 118 by HRP K9, patrol and Emergency Response Team members. Three men from the metro area were taken into custody without incident. A firearm was recovered from the vehicle. Highway 111 was closed to traffic for a period of time but has since reopened. The investigation, is being conducted by members of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division and is in the preliminary stages at this time, a decision on charges will be made when the investigation is complete.
Updated: Members of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division have charged a 19-year-old man from Dartmouth, a 21-year-old man from North Preston and 26-year-old man from Dartmouth in relation to this incident. All three men have been charged with numerous weapons-related offences and are to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court today

Men robbed walking in Halifax

At approximately 12:25 am Halifax Regional Police responded to a report of a robbery in the area of Morris St and Brenton St in Halifax. Two men, ages 31 and 32 from Ontario, were walking along Morris St when they were approached by another man who asked them for cigarettes. The man then demanded their cash and produced a knife, thrusting it toward them. The victims were able to flee the area without being injured or turning over any money. An 18 year old, from Halifax, was located by HRP on Morris St near South Park St and arrested. He will appear in Halifax Provincial court on Wednesday September 14th charged with robbery and weapons offences.
