2 weeks without Beer (Again)

After pounding back beer after beer and piece of cheesecake after piece of cheesecake for 4 days while in Scotland, when Sunday evening came around, my body was hating me.  It’s not use to having fries and cheesecake at every meal and it’s definitely not use to sitting for 30 hours while sight seeing and not being active.  So, when it was time to get back to reality, I think it was already set to get back to our normal eating and training regiment.

Because we’re going to be travelling a lot in the next two months (Rome in November, Paris in December, somewhere warm like the Canary Islands over Christmas and hopefully Ireland sometime in there somewhere too), we’ve decided to eat as clean as we can and train in the gym pretty hard when we’re home in London.

We’re doing the next two weeks without any alcohol and eating at home and cooking for ourselves as much as possible.  We’ve realized that while on vacation, we want to eat and drink like we’re on vacation, so to balance this out we’ll do the “healthy thing” when we’re not travelling.  It also registered with us that if we’re going to be going somewhere warm over Christmas, we need to be in beach shape during the winter, which I’m not use to!

I’ve been coming up with some pretty tough workouts for the gym for us to do and I’ve joined a competitive men’s volleyball team that I’m training with and when my body isn’t sore and hating me, I’m trying to run a bit.  I’m also going to take a Brazilian Jujitsu class on Friday and a boxing class some time next week to mix up my workouts.  I find myself really missing hockey right now, but I’m pretty busy as it is and I know I’ll get my fill when I get back to Canada.

So the plan is, kick my ass while at home and pig out while on vacation. It’s a great plan in theory, lets see if it works.
