2005 Murder Case Added to Rewards Program

Halifax Regional Police and the provincial government are hoping to receive more information about the death of Naomi Wendy Kidston through the Rewards for Major Unsolved Crimes Program.

Anyone who shares information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or people responsible for Ms.

Kidston’s death could receive up to $150,000.

“Ms. Kidston’s family has been waiting 10 years for closure. I appeal to anyone with information about her death to come forward and assist police in their investigation,” said Justice Minister Lena Metlege Diab.

On the afternoon of June 7, 2005, Halifax Regional Police responded to an address on River Road in Spryfield where they found Ms. Kidston deceased inside an apartment. The investigation has determined she was last seen alive earlier that day at the same residence.

“Based on the investigation by homicide detectives, we believe that Naomi’s death was not a random act and that she would have known the person or people responsible,” said Supt. Jim Perrin, officer-in-charge of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division. “We hope that by adding her homicide to the Rewards for Major Unsolved Crimes program it will encourage people who know something to come forward.”

Police believe there are people who have information that could result in an arrest and possible charges. Anyone with information should call the Rewards for Major Unsolved Crimes Program at 1-888-710-9090.

Those who come forward with information must provide their name and contact information. They may be called to testify in court. All calls will be recorded.
