2011 CANADA GAMES—Athletes Relocated as a Precaution

Release:
All 85 athletes, coaches and managers are being relocated from the Tim Horton’s Camp in Tatamagouche to CFB Windsor Park as a precaution after bedbugs were identified in an unused area of their residence. No evidence of bedbugs was found in any area where the athletes were staying.

“We want our athletes to be comfortable and focused on their competition,” said Chris Morrissey, CEO. “Tim Hortons remains a valued sponsor and we appreciate the work they've done.”

“The risk of the athletes being exposed to bedbugs is no greater than the risk to anyone travelling,” said Dr. Robert Strang, Chief Public Health Officer.

Logistical details are being worked out over the next day said Mr. Morrissey, but the athletes will be staying at Windsor Park for the remainder of the week.

Staying in one location ensures better ease of transportation and feeding.

The athletes who were housed in Tatamagouche are competing at Ski Wentworth.
