20th anniversary of the disappearance of Jaime Wyatt

20th anniversary of the disappearance of Jaime Wyatt

Jaime Wyatt was looking forward to a night on the town with friends on November 16, 1996. Twenty years later, his family is still wondering what led to his disappearance that night.

Jaime left his home in Newfoundland in September 1996 to find employment in Nova Scotia. He was staying at the Twin Elms Motel on Inglis Street in Halifax, paid up until November 17 when he was scheduled to head back to Newfoundland. The night of November 16, he shared his plans for the evening with a motel employee and said someone was coming to pick him up. He was never seen or heard from again. Investigators believe the circumstances of Jaime’s disappearance are suspicious and foul play may be involved.

At the time of his disappearance, Jaime was 62-years-old, approximately 5’6”, 160-170 lbs. with a medium build, blue eyes and bald with a fringe of grey hair around his head. Friends and family describe him as a happy person who would strike up a conversation with anyone.

Twenty years may have passed since Jaime went missing but the need to know what happened to him is as strong as ever. Investigators with the Special Investigation Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Section are asking anyone with information about Jaime’s disappearance to contact police at 902-490-5016. Anonymous tips can be sent to Crime Stoppers by calling toll-free 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), submitting a secure web tip at www.crimestoppers.ns.ca http://www.crimestoppers.ns.ca or texting a tip – Tip 202 + your message to 274637.

This case is part of the Nova Scotia Department of Justice Rewards for Major Unsolved Crimes PrograM.
