This Sunday, June 14, officers from Halifax Regional Police and Halifax District RCMP will be lacing up their running shoes and pounding the pavement as part of the 2nd Annual Police Chase race in support of Special Olympics Nova Scotia.
Police Chase is a light-hearted, non-competitive race that puts the shoe on the other foot – instead of being in pursuit, officers will be ‘chased’ by citizens along a 5km route through uptown Halifax. Police Headquarters, 1975 Gottingen Street, is the staging area for the race. Gottingen Street between Cogswell Street and Rainnie Drive will be closed to vehicle traffic and, parking will be restricted from 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Additionally, officers will be stationed along the race route to help ensure the safety of participants and, to keep traffic flowing. Motorists are advised to expect intermittent delays along the following streets from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.:
- Cogswell Street from Gottingen to Bauer Streets
- Maynard Street from Cogswell to North Streets
- Fuller Terrace from North to Bloomfield Streets
- Isleville Street from Bloomfield to Stanley Streets
- Stanley Street from Isleville to Agricola Streets
- Agricola Street from Stanley to Charles Streets
- Charles Street from Agricola to Creighton Streets
- Creighton Street from Charles to Cogswell Streets
- Cunard Street from Maynard to Creighton Streets (9 a.m. to 9:20 a.m.)
Police Headquarters at 1975 Gottingen Street will remain open to the public throughout the event; citizens will have access to the building through the Gottingen Street entrance. Additionally, The Centennial Pool parking lot will only be accessible through the Cogswell Street entrance.

Police Chase is a fundraiser for the Law Enforcement Torch Run in support of Special Olympics Nova Scotia.
