“Thirty-nine firefighter recruits have been hard at work training over the past three months, and have now been rewarded with their black helmets
This class includes 21 firefighters who will move into Station 4 (Lady Hammond Road), as the first cohort of volunteers to take residence in a downtown fire station.
Twelve other stations across the municipality will also see new recruits join their ranks this week.
The new firefighters have had to endure a battery of testing, training, and other rigorous procedures with exacting standards in order to successfully join HRFE.
