4 overnight Macdonald bridge closures in the next two weeks

Halifax Harbour Bridges Release:

There will be four overnight, full closures of the Macdonald Bridge over the next two weeks.

During the closures, we’ll be replacing the expansion joints—which allow the bridge deck to move under the weight of vehicles. That work requires full closures.

During those closures, there will also be intermittent, temporary closures of the bike lane and sidewalk. During those interruptions, people will be asked to share the active transportation that is open. Cyclists are asked to walk their bikes, and anyone who is unable to walk their bike is asked to use extreme caution, ride slowly and yield to pedestrians.

The closures are as follows:

Tuesday, Oct. 3 from 7 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.

Thursday, Oct. 5 from 7 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.

Tuesday, Oct. 10 from 7 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.

Thursday, Oct. 12 from 7 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.

All bridge maintenance and closures are weather dependent and subject to change.
