This Sunday marks the 41st annual Nova Scotia Fallen Peace Officers’ Memorial Service. The service honours peace officers based in Nova Scotia who died in the line of duty. It is a humbling reminder of the selflessness and dedication of those who lost their lives while serving others.

“The Nova Scotia Fallen Peace Officers’ Memorial Service is an opportunity for us to reflect, remember and pay our respects to those who have fallen in the line of duty while protecting and serving the community,” said Don MacLean, Chief of Halifax Regional Police. “We hope to see citizens from across the province join us on Sunday for the memorial. For those who are unable to make it in-person, we will be livestreaming the service on Halifax Regional Police’s Facebook page.”

This year, the memorial service will take place near the Wall of Honour, located outside the Nova Scotia RCMP headquarters at 80 Garland Avenue, Dartmouth. The event is open to the public. Peace officers, first responders, civilian employees, military personnel and volunteers from across the province will be in attendance for a brief ceremony. Following remarks by dignitaries, peace officers and family members will lay wreaths in memory of those who have made the ultimate sacrifice.
