6 drivers caught with fake inspection stickers

Halifax District RCMP has stopped six drivers with fake inspection stickers on their vehicles in Musquodoboit Harbour area since March 16.

On March 16, a member from the Halifax District RCMP in Musquodoboit charged three drivers for having a fake inspection sticker on their vehicles. All three vehicles were involved in separate traffic stops on Highway 7. A 31-year-old West Chezzetcook man, a 64-year-old Porters Lake man, and a 27-year-old Porters Lake woman were charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle Without a Valid Safety Inspection Sticker.

On March 23, a member conducted a traffic stop on Highway 7 and noticed a fake inspection sticker on the vehicle. The driver had recently purchased the vehicle with the sticker attached. The driver was issued a warning and advised to have the vehicle inspected.

On March 24, a member conducted a traffic stop on Highway 7 and noticed a fake inspection sticker on the vehicle. The driver, a 49-year-old man from Eastern Passage, was charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle Without a Valid Safety Inspection Sticker. That same day, another traffic stop on Highway 7 resulted in the driver, a 33-year-old woman from Dartmouth, being charged with Driving a Motor Vehicle While Revoked and with Operating a Motor Vehicle Without a Valid Safety Inspection Sticker due to having a fake inspection sticker on the vehicle.

In all cases where charges were laid, the vehicle was towed at the owner’s expense and impounded. In Nova Scotia, the fine for Operating a Motor Vehicle Without a Valid Safety Inspection Sticker is $180.

Musquodoboit Harbour RCMP would like to remind motorists that it is illegal to affix a fake inspection sticker to a motor vehicle. If you are caught, you will be charged and your vehicle will be towed.
