65 speeding, distracted driving tickets in the last 48 hours

The Halifax Regional Police Traffic Unit issued 65 tickets for motor vehicle-related offences over the last two days.

HRP Traffic Unit members have been continuing to monitor many of our roadways for traffic safety issues. Over the course of Monday and Tuesday, members issued 65 summary offence tickets: 13 for speeding, six for using a cell phone while driving and 46 for other offences including failing to wear seatbelts, failing to obey traffic signs/signals, no insurance, expired plates and invalid inspections.

In an ongoing effort to address traffic safety issues and educate citizens on the rules of the road, our officers focus on distracted driving and speed enforcement.

We all have a role to play in keeping our roads safe. If you see someone driving dangerously, report it to police by calling 911.
