79-year-old man faces firearms charges

Annapolis District RCMP has charged a man with ten Criminal Code offences following an incident at a Clementsvale home.

On July 29, Annapolis District RCMP, the Nova Scotia RCMP Emergency Response Team, and Police Dog Services, responded to a report of an individual firing shots at a vehicle driven by a woman he knew.

Upon arrival at the residence, officers safely arrested a 79-year-old man. A search warrant was later executed and two firearms and a quantity of ammunition were seized.

Roland Chester Potter of Clementsvale has been charged with:

  • Assault
  • Failure to Comply with a Probation Order
  • Discharging a Firearm with Intent
  • Careless Use of a Firearm
  • Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized (two counts)
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm (two counts)

Unsafe Storage of Firearm (two counts)

The investigation, assisted by RCMP Forensic Identification Services, continues. Potter appeared in Annapolis Royal Provincial Court and was remanded into custody. He returns to court on August 14, at 9:30 a.m.
