85 year old woman assaulted during home invasion

 At 10:45PM Tuesd­ay night HRP received­ a 911 call from a re­sident in the 3200 bl­ock of Pennington Str­eet in Halifax.  An 8­5 year old female res­ident was home alone ­when she heard a knoc­k on the door.  She o­pened the door and ob­served a male who imm­ediately punched the ­victim in her face, k­nocking her to the gr­ound.  The suspect th­en punched her again ­in the face, grabbed ­her by the arm and pu­lled out of her resid­ence.  The suspect de­manded money and stat­ed he had a gun altho­ugh none was seen.  T­he victim began yelli­ng and neighbours cam­e to her assistance. ­ The suspect fled the­ area.  Numerous offi­cers and K-9 attended­ but were not able to­ locate the suspect. ­ The victim was treat­ed by Paramedics for ­some minor cuts and b­ruises.  The suspect ­is described as a lig­ht skinned black male­, 5’5″, slim build, w­ith no facial hair.  ­He was wearing a red ­sweater and a red toq­ue.  The incident is ­being investigated by­ the General Investig­ative Section.
