7, 2014 (Halifax, NS) – Current residents and newcomers alike are invited to the 9th annual Welcome BBQ this Saturday, Aug. 9, on the Halifax South Commons to celebrate our diverse communities and welcome those who are new to the region.
Last year’s event brought about 1,000 people together to eat, laugh and enjoy some cultural music and entertainment. This year’s BBQ promises to be another great afternoon of family fun, with plenty of food, culture and activities for the kids.
Come see a Korean drum band, Nepali song and dance and other entertainment by the Taiwanese Society, Zulkamoon and many more! There will be Karma Thai massage on site and Discovery Centre activities for the younger crowd.
Don’t miss it – the fun starts at 11 a.m. and will continue until 2 p.m.
The Welcome BBQ is planned and delivered each year by a committee representing many organizations that serve newcomers in our region.
Additional resources and information for newcomers is available on the municipal government website at http://www.halifax.ca/newcomers/index.php.
