Morroccanoil Dry Shampoo: A Review

As you know blog reader I’ve recently high tailed it to Boston MA. I pretty much decided to go on a whim, and so with all this excitement and travel you can imagine how perfect this Moroccanoil dry shampoo has been for this restless girl.

Find out what I love about this product inside…

When you can’t wash your hair everyday (or maybe you’re so busy having fun that you don’t want to) dry shampoo can be a really great solution to control unwanted or excess oil. Not only does it absorb oil and make your hair less greasy it also can add volume and texture to your hair (major bonus for us fine haired girls).

THE VERDICT
LOVE this product. I’ve used dry shampoos before, but I never found I really liked them (other than the Rush Brush, but that’s a completely different product entirely). Dry shampoos always felt too paste like to me, or they were too wet in my hair, and I felt like adding stuff to my gross greasy hair was just a bad idea in general.  That was until…
The Moroccanoil dry shampoo is actually pretty great and I like that it comes in different tones because despite being extremely blonde lately, my natural color still remains at the roots of my hair making it tricky for most dry shampoos. I’m not sure about you brunettes out there, but I find that my hair tends to just turn white with most dry shampoo rather than actually “absorb the oil”.  I didn’t find this to be the case with this product. My hair was completely fine while spraying it on the underneath layers of my hair, and I even sprayed it directly on the part of my hair and it was pretty good; I didn’t have to rub it in too much. I found rubbing a comb through it pretty much took any “whiteness” or dullness away.
I actually have been using this product on my clean hair too because I find that my fine hair tends to get a little heavy (in the front), and the dry shampoo really does add some lift. I’m also kind of into that just rolled out of bed kind of look lately, so it’s great to create a “lived in” look. I’ve been loving it while touring and traveling around Boston (it smells so great).
The only thing I didn’t like about the product, and it’s not even really a dislike more like I had to kind of had to figure it out. The spray nossle sort of sprays upward, and so it was tricky to get my part because I kept missing my head entirely (I know I’m a mess).  It’s great for the parts underneath, and I completely understand why it would be designed this way it just took some getting used to for me. Clearly I’m a little dry shampoo challenged.  If this happens to you just know that you’re not alone, but unfortunately it’s probably us and not the product.

Overall I’d definitely recommend this product. I mean it seems counter-intuitive for a Moroccanoil product to remove oil, but it actually does, and it smells great too! For sure a win in my books, and it’s so perfect for creating those cute little half buns! This hair style has pretty much been my go-to for notsoclean locks lately, and having the dry shampoo on hand for my roots has DEFINITELY saved me.

Hope you’re having a great week Blog Reader, and Happy Belated Canada Day! I’m celebrating on the wrong side of the fence again, but not to worry I’ve been Canadian proud! I even sported some red and white (of course) to celebrate.
