Following a two month investigation, the Annapolis County RCMP Street Crime Enforcement Unit has charged seven individuals with drug-related offences.
Based on information that came forward from concerned citizens, officers began a drug investigation in June that uncovered prescription and illicit drug trafficking taking place in the town of Middleton and surrounding communities.
Throughout the investigation, quantities of hydromorphone, dilaudid, cocaine, morphine and marijuana were seized. Earlier today, five individuals were arrested and a search warrant was executed at a residence in Brickton with assistance from Annapolis County (Middleton and Bridgetown offices), Digby and Kings RCMP. During the search, a marijuana grow operation was discovered. As a result, a quantity of marijuana and drug paraphernalia was also seized.
‘The success of this operation will significantly disrupt the sale of prescription and street level drugs taking place on our streets and near schools in our community, ‘says S/Sgt. Dan MacGillivray, Annapolis County District Commander. ‘We also expect to see a decrease in the number of property crimes, thefts from vehicles and break and enters that we know were directly associated with the illegal drug activity happening in the area.’
