Driver Charged With DUI After Mackay Bridge Accident

Halifax Regional Police responded to a collision, on the middle of the A Murray MacKay Bridge at 8:35 pm last evening. A car was driving from Dartmouth to Halifax when it crossed the centre line and struck a pickup truck head on. The car was driven by a male also in the vehicle was a male passenger. The male driver was the lone occupant of the truck. Both vehicles were extensively damaged and had to be removed by tow trucks. Only one lane was open on the Bridge during the investigation, causing traffic delays. There were no injuries to any of the people involved in the accident.

A 43 year old man from Halifax has been charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and refusing the breathalyzer; he has been released and will appear in court at a later date.
