Barrington Street – Weekend Construction

Friday, April 29, 2016 (Halifax, NS) – The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents and motorists that crews will be installing a galvanized steel canopy over a stretch of sidewalk along a block of downtown Barrington Street this weekend. The construction work requires the closure of part of the northbound lane along Barrington Street. This will result in stop-and-go traffic along the remaining open lane. Traffic control personnel will be on site to direct vehicles in both directions. The steel canopy replaces covered hoarding connected to the Pacific Building (civic numbers’ 1537, 1541, and 1547) that has been in place to protect pedestrians from falling debris off the face of the building. Crews will be on site Saturday and Sunday beginning at 6 a.m. Work is expected to affect pedestrian and vehicular traffic for most of both days. The municipality apologizes in advance for any inconvenience this work may cause. Source: Release
