Last Sunday at 2:20 a.m., members of the East Hants RCMP Detachment were conducting a checkpoint at the intersection of Highway 2 and Old Enfield Rd. in Enfield.
A police officer noticed the headlights of an approaching car which accelerated as it came through the checkpoint, nearly hitting the officer. The RCMP officer quickly got into his police vehicle and followed the car, which was driving erratically, for a short distance. He stopped the car in a driveway of a residence. The male driver exited the vehicle and was placed under arrest. A woman and a young girl remained in the vehicle, who were visibly upset.
The driver of the vehicle is facing charges of Dangerous Driving and Impaired Driving. He is also being served a Summary Offence Ticket for Driving While Privileges of Obtaining a License are Revoked. He will appear in Shubenacadie Provincial Court on September 26, 2016.
