Tuesday, June 6, 2017 (Halifax, NS) – The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents and motorists there will be significant pedestrian and vehicular traffic disruptions near the soon-to-be constructed condominium project slated for the block encompassing Birmingham Street, Clyde Street, and Dresden Row.
Beginning tomorrow at 9 a.m., the contractor will begin setting up sidewalk closures and pedestrian detours along those three streets to facilitate construction of the project. Municipal staff are currently removing parking meter heads and installing the required temporary regulatory parking signage on the affected streets.
As a result of these pedestrian sidewalk detours, Birmingham Street will no longer be able to accommodate two-way vehicular traffic. It will be changed to a one-way southbound street from Spring Garden Road to Clyde Street for the length of time it takes to complete the project.
Traffic control personnel will be on site for the initial set-up period to assist with pedestrian and vehicular traffic as required.
The anticipated completion date for the project is March, 2020.
Motorists are asked to take alternative routes whenever possible. The municipality appreciates your patience while this work is underway.
