SS Atlantic Annual Meeting

ssatlantic_1The SS Atlantic Heritage Society is holding its Annual Meeting on Monday August 23 at 7:00 p.m. at the Museum and Shop in Terence Bay- beside St. Paul’s Anglican Church. Just follow the signs!

If you have never been there, this is a time for you to come and visit! We have an interesting museum recording the story of the wreck in 1873 with artifacts from the ship, and we sell local crafts, books etc.

There is also a lovely board walk down by the river. More folks are needed to keep this society and its activities going- but don’t worry we won’t pounce on you to do anything unless you express a real interest! Come and check us out and hear what’s been happening and plans for the future.

The wreck of the SS Atlantic is a very important part of local history which has rippled around the world- survivors’ descendants, victims’ relatives, the Captain’s descendants, descendants of the local people who went to the rescue, divers….etc etc. You might be surprised! A heritage to guard!
