911 call to RCMP results in arrest of impaired driver

Just before 11 a.m. yesterday, Lunenburg District RCMP received a 911 call of a possible impaired driver on the Conquerall Mills Rd. in Conquerall Mills. The concerned citizen called 911 after observing the driver of a Ford Escape swerving between lanes while drinking straight from a liquor bottle. RCMP located the vehicle on the Conquerall Mills Road where they stopped the vehicle and arrested the driver for Impaired Operation.

The driver, a 49-year-old man from Middlewood, was transported to the Cookville RCMP Detachment where he provided breath samples that were nearly three times the legal limit. As a result, he is facing charges for Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Operate a Motor Vehicle Over the Legal Limit. He is scheduled to appear in Bridgewater Provincial Court on May 2 at 0930 a.m. to answer to these charges.

Lunenburg District RCMP is committed to improving road safety in our communities through an ongoing effort to remove impaired drivers from the road. If you suspect a driver is impaired, you are urged to call 911.
