Province, CSAP Continue to Work on New Legislation

An act to oversee Conseil scolaire acadien provincial (CSAP), planned for this spring, will be introduced during a future legislative session. “We are committed to supporting French-first language education,” said Zach Churchill, Minister of Education and Early Childhood Development. “We are currently working with the CSAP to develop an act that will meet the unique cultural and language needs of Acadians and Francophones.”Once developed, it will be the first time that Nova Scotia has separate legislation governing French language in public schools. “The government can count on the CSAP’s continued support to develop a separate act governing French-first language education in this province,” said Kenneth Gaudet, chair of the Conseil scolaire acadien provincial.Source: Release
