The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents of the following municipal program and service level adjustments for Canada Day, Sunday, July 1:
Halifax Transit Bus and Ferry Services:
Those who plan to attend the free concert at Alderney Landing or take in the fireworks show above the Halifax Harbour are encouraged to use the free, all-day Alderney ferry service as their mode of transportation. The Alderney ferry will operate on the following schedule on Sunday, July 1: 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 a.m. Ferry passengers are encouraged to bring a food or monetary donation in lieu of fare payment to support FEED NOVA SCOTIA.
There will be no Woodside service on Canada Day, July 1. Woodside ferry service will operate on the following schedule on Monday, July 2: 7:37 a.m. to 9:07 p.m.
Halifax Transit buses will be operating on Sunday service on Canada Day, Sunday, July 1 and on Holiday service on Monday, July 2.

Solid Waste Collection and Facility Hours:
There will be no changes to curbside collection for the Canada Day holiday. Collection services will occur as usual on Monday, July 2. Residents are reminded that collection services can begin as early as 7 a.m.; to ensure pick-up, residents may place materials curbside the evening prior to collection day.
The Otter Lake Waste Management Facility, the Halifax recycling facility and municipal composting facilities will be open on Monday, July 2. The Household Special Waste Depot in Bayers Lake will be closed on Saturday, June 30, and will re-open for regular operating hours on Saturday, July 7. Recreation Facilities, Programs and Services:
Municipal beaches and the outdoor pools at the Halifax Common, Bedford (Shore Drive) and Cole Harbour (Colby Drive) officially open to the public on Sunday, July 1. There are a variety of beaches across the Halifax region, many of which are supervised by trained lifeguards, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. Beginning Saturday, June 30 all splash pads, with the exception of the Common splash pad, will be open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., daily. The Halifax Common pool and splash pad will be open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Canada Day.
The Emera Oval is open on Canada Day; please visit https://www.halifax.ca/recreation/facilities-fields/emera-oval for a detailed schedule. Many other municipally-operated recreation facilities will be closed on Canada Day, Sunday, July 1. Residents are advised to call ahead to their respective facility for operating hours and program information. Parking:
On-street metered parking spaces are free on Canada Day, Sunday, July 1, however motorists are reminded to abide by other posted signage such as no-parking zones.
Customer Contact Centres:
The 311 Contact Centre will be operating on regular hours on Sunday, July 1 (9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.) and Monday, July 2 (8 a.m. to 8 p.m.).
The five Customer Service Centres that provide in-person access to municipal services and payments will be closed on Monday, July 2, re-opening for regular business hours on Tuesday, July 3.
