Halifax Seaport Cider & Beerfest postponed until October

Release:

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and uncertainty around hosting large gatherings, the 14th annual Halifax Seaport Cider & Beerfest is postponed for the summer and tentatively re-scheduled for October 9 & 10, 2020.

“These are exceptional and uncertain times, but it’s critical we all do our part to limit community spread,” says Brian Titus, festival co-founder. “We’re very proud of the local beer and cider scene we’ve helped build and it’s difficult to imagine an August without the largest annual celebration of beer.”

The Halifax Seaport Beerfest started in 2007 when there were no similar events provincially and only six local brewers operating (now more than 60 in Nova Scotia alone). The one-day street festival attracted 850 attendees sampling 100 beers, mostly imports. The event grew steadily over the years and now attracts over 5000 attendees sampling roughly 350 beers, ciders and meads over two days.

“Like most community events, Seaport Beerfest relies on hundreds of volunteers and a number of great partners such as the NSLC, Atlantic Lottery Corporation and Bell Media Group,” adds Titus. “It also provides a venue for nearly 50 local producers to sample directly to the consumer. We look forward to once again sharing a ‘Beer on the Pier!’ with all this Thanksgiving!”

The October 9 & 10, 2020 date is tentative for now and tickets will not be made available until organizers are sure it will take place. Tickets already purchased for the festival will be honoured for the new Fall dates. All ticket inquiries should be directed to Ticket Atlantic: ticketing@ticketatlantic.com.
