Queens District RCMP is asking for the public’s assistance for information about a firearms complaint yesterday in Liverpool.
Shortly after 10 a.m. on August 26, police received reports about a man walking down the street with a handgun and spinning it around. Multiple RCMP members responded near a home where the man was last seen. Police located him behind the home shortly after and apprehended him. Upon close inspection, police determined that the firearm was a BB gun and that there was no safety risk to the public.
Police would like to remind people air guns and replica firearms can often look like real firearms and may be subject to some penalties under the Criminal Code if used to imitate a real firearm.
The individual was taken into custody and charges may be pending.
Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has information to contact Liverpool RCMP Detachment at 902-354-5721. Should you wish to remain anonymous, you can also contact Nova Scotia Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or text TIP202 + your message to ‘CRIMES’ (274637) or submit tips by Secure Web Tips at www.crimestoppers.ns.ca.
