UPDATE: Water Service Advisory – Herring Cove Road & Area – Estimated Water Service Restoration & Bottled Water
(December 9, 2021) Repairs are now complete, and the water system is refilling. The majority of impacted customers will see their water service restored this evening; however, some customers (at higher elevations) may not experience normal water pressure until tomorrow, Friday, December 10, or may experience longer periods of discolouration. We understand that the winter weather and road conditions have limited people’s mobility today. Due to these extenuating circumstances, Halifax Water is coordinating with local agencies to provide drinking water for those who may require it tonight or early tomorrow. For those customers requiring drinking water, bottled drinking water will be available at Halifax Fire Station 60, 40 Latter Pond Lane, Herring Cove, from 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM, tonight, December 9, and again from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM on Friday, December 10. Customers who experience discoloured water should run the COLD water at one faucet for about 10 minutes. You should see the water clear. Do not use the hot water faucet since this will draw discoloured water into your hot water heater/tank. If the water fails to clear after 10 minutes, wait for a few hours and again try running only the cold water. Learn more about discoloured water and report it at: www.halifaxwater.ca/discoloured-water<www.halifaxwater.ca/discoloured-water>. Herring Cove Road will remain closed to all traffic between Dentith Road and Sussex Street as crews work to restore the road near the site of this repair. A detour is in place.
For the safety of work crews and residents, please observe social/physical distancing requirements (2 metres of separation).
