The West Hants District RCMP Street Crime Enforcement Unit (SCEU) has charged a man and a woman with firearms offences after executing a search warrant at a home in Summerville.

On January 27, as part of an ongoing firearms investigation, the West Hants District RCMP SCEU, with assistance from the Nova Scotia RCMP Emergency Response Team (ERT), West Hants District RCMP General Investigation Section (GIS), Halifax District RCMP SCEU, Colchester County District RCMP SCEU/GIS and Criminal Intelligence Service Nova Scotia, performed a traffic stop on a vehicle on Lawrence Rd. in Newport. Two people in the vehicle, a 41-year-old Newport Station man, and a 29-year-old Summerville woman, were arrested without incident. Both were transported to the West Hants District RCMP Detachment and held in custody overnight.

Police then executed a search warrant at a home on Masters Rd. in Summerville. During the search police located and seized a loaded, unsecured shotgun and ammunition.

Eric Arnold Hubley, 41, of Newport Station, and Jessica Lynn Wile, 29, of Summervile, have both been charged with Careless Storage of a Firearm, Unsafe Storage of a Firearm, Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm and Possession of a Firearm while Knowing Possession Unauthorized. Hubley also faces two additional charges of Breach of a Firearms Prohibition Order.

Hubley appeared in Windsor Provincial Court on January 28 and was released on conditions by the court. Hubley will return to Windsor Provincial Court on April 19, 2022 at 10 a.m.

Wile was released from custody on conditions on January 28 and will appear in Windsor Provincial Court on April 19, 2022 at 10 a.m.
