East Hants District RCMP is asking for the public’s help in identifying the driver of an ATV that was observed driving on Hwy. 214, Hwy. 2 and Hwy. 102 in Enfield, Elmsdale and Lantz on April 6, 2022.  

At approximately 4:40 p.m. on April 6, RCMP received a complaint of several ATVs operating on Hwy. 102 in Enfield. RCMP officers learned that one of the ATV drivers was playing “chicken” with traffic on the highway. Shortly after, an RCMP officer was in traffic on Hwy. 214 in Elmsdale when an ATV passed the police car, and many other cars, at a high rate of speed and in a dangerous manner. No license plate was attached to the ATV.

Police determined that the ATV was the same as the one observed on Hwy. 102. The driver of the ATV, a man, was wearing a red plaid shirt and a brown/orange helmet with no visor. He is described as 6 feet tall and thin.

Later that evening, while RCMP officers were speaking with other ATV drivers in Elmsdale, the same man was observed revving the ATV and driving up and down Hwy. 102 several times, including doing catwalks at high speeds. He then left the area and was observed driving around the Lantz Sportsplex and Exit 8A on Hwy. 102.  

This man has been observed operating his ATV on roads in Nine Mile River, Belnan, Elmsdale, and Lantz. RCMP are now looking to arrest the driver for Dangerous Operation of a Conveyance.

It is an offence to operate an ATV on any highway and driving recklessly or endangering the lives of others is a criminal offence that will not be tolerated.
