Experiences are always better in person.
Sure, modern technology has made it easier to connect from anywhere in the world. But this technology still hasn’t been able to replicate the energy and enthusiasm of in-person interaction.
Facilitating these in is at the heart of the Halifax Chamber of Commerce’s mission.
“Throughout the pandemic, we heard from members about how much they missed connecting with other Chamber members and building their network in the Halifax business community,” says a Chamber spokesperson. “We do value the accessibility options provided by online webinars, but face-to-face meetings remain our best way to build relationships.”
To make these interactions happen, the Chamber offers over 100 events each year, including networking events, business luncheons, information sessions, and galas. Through these events, individuals get the opportunity to gain new business knowledge while making valuable connections in the community.
“Events and meetings offer an opportunity to meet new people and learn something new,” says the spokesperson. “We strive to create both informational content and networking opportunities at all of our events.“
And while there are opportunities for non-members, Chamber membership is where a business really feels the benefits of being part of the Chamber community. Not only do members have the opportunity to attend all of the Chamber’s events, including the Chamber awards gala, but they can also gain exposure through the Business Voice magazine, training across different development areas, and benefits in the form of health benefits, car and home insurance, among other discounts.
It is an exciting time to live and work in Halifax with growth in employment and GDP recovering and surpassing pre-pandemic levels according to the Halifax Partnership. However there are also tremendous obstacles and challenges ahead, from the cost of living and conducting business to actually finding and hiring the right people. But there is strength in numbers and the Halifax Chamber offers professionals and businesses opportunities to help local business grow. Whether it is navigating or advocating – for or against – government policies, providing extended health benefits to staff, the Chamber is a partner in achieving success and supporting a thriving Halifax business community.
