Work details: Access to Valour Way from Upper Water Street will be closed permanently. Access to/from His Majesty’s Canadian (HMC) Dockyard will be opened along Upper Water Street by HMCS Scotian for those authorized access within the HMC Dockyard operational zone. This change is in support of the Cogswell District project<www.halifax.ca/about-halifax/regional-community-planning/construction-projects/cogswell-district-redevelopment>.
Traffic Impacts
Motorists: Access to Department of National Defence (DND) property via Valour Way at Upper Water Street will no longer be available to personal vehicles. Motorists should access DND from North Street at Valour Way and Barrington Street, or Barrington Street at Niobe Gate Bridge.
Transit: Stop 8413 and Stop 8414 along Upper Water Street will be closed.
Route 50 Dockyard-Shipyard, both inbound and outbound, will be on detour.

Pedestrians: Authorized pedestrians can access DND’s HMC Dockyard property through a new access point along Upper Water Street by HMCS Scotian. Pedestrian access to Upper Water Street is maintained along the newly opened multi-use path. Pedestrian access is maintained at Barrington Street, and Valour Way at North Street. Signage will be in place.
Cyclists: Authorized cyclists can access DND’s HMC Dockyard property through a new access point along Upper Water Street by HMCS Scotian. Pedestrian access to Upper Water Street is maintained along the newly opened multi-use path. Signage will be in place. Cyclist access is maintained at Barrington Street, and Valour Way at North Street.
Trucks: Commercial truck traffic accessing DND’s HMC Dockyard property can do so from the new truck access along Upper Water Street by HMCS Scotian.
