The CFIA is actively investigating reports of illnesses associated with the consumption of the affected fruit. If you have consumed these products and are experiencing symptoms such as diarrhea, vomiting, nausea, or stomach cramps, please seek medical attention. Norovirus symptoms typically develop within 12 to 48 hours after exposure.
Norovirus illness can cause symptoms of gastroenteritis within 12 to 48 hours, with diarrhea, vomiting, nausea, and stomach cramps being the main indicators. Despite having the illness before, there is still a risk of re-infection. Most people recover within one to two days without any long-term health effects, but it is important to stay hydrated by drinking fluids to replace lost body fluids. In severe cases, hospitalization and intravenous fluids may be necessary.
