Water Service & Traffic Advisory – Cowie Hill, Spryfield, & Herring Cove Areas
(July 20, 2023) From 7:00 PM on Friday, July 21, continuing throughout the weekend, crews will be completing phase two of a water main repair on Dunbrack Street, near Walter Havill Drive, Halifax.
Water Service Impacts Customers in the areas of Cowie Hill, Spryfield, and Herring Cove may experience temporary changes in water pressure or discoloured water during this repair. An interactive map of the potentially impacted area is available here: halifaxwater.ca/alert/water-service-advisory-spryfield-herring-cove. It is recommended that customers experiencing discoloured water run the COLD water at one faucet until the water runs clear. To learn more about discoloured water and to report it, please visit www.halifaxwater.ca/discoloured-water<www.halifaxwater.ca/discoloured-water>.
How Customers Can Prepare To reduce the strain on the water distribution system during this repair and to be prepared for possible changes in water pressure, we recommend that customers store drinking water in clean, food-safe containers. In addition, we are asking customers within the potentially impacted area to reduce their optional water use (watering lawns, washing cars, etc.)
Traffic Impacts Two-way traffic will be maintained on Dunbrack Street, with one lane per direction in the work zone. Experienced traffic control personnel will be on-site to manage traffic flows. Sidewalks remain open. Motorists should expect delays and use alternate routes. Motorists are also reminded that speed fines double in work zones.
We apologize for any inconvenience this necessary infrastructure repair work may cause.
To ensure the safety of our communities and our staff, please maintain a safe distance when Halifax Water staff or contractors are working in your area.
