Overview: Several brands of caffeinated energy drinks have been recalled due to concerns over caffeine content and labelling issues. The affected products may not comply with Canadian food safety standards.

Health Risks: High caffeine levels can be harmful, especially for children, pregnant and breastfeeding individuals, and those sensitive to caffeine. Side effects may include insomnia, irritability, headaches, and nervousness.

Background: This recall is part of an ongoing CFIA investigation. Many of the recalled products were not intended for sale in Canada and have been imported and sold by third parties. Some products may have been purchased online. In Canada, energy drinks should not contain more than 180 mg of caffeine per serving and must have cautionary statements.

Actions Taken: The CFIA is ensuring the removal of recalled products from the market and is working with Health Canada to address non-compliance issues.
