Missing 75-year-old hunter found

RCMP release:

The 75-year-old man who was reported missing from McCallum Settlement has been located safe.

The man was located safe late this afternoon walking along Truro Rd., McCallum Settlement, by a motorist. He was transported to hospital by EHS as a precaution.

The man left his home yesterday to go hunting in a wooded area off Truro Rd. and hadn’t returned as expected. The man’s ATV was located yesterday afternoon in the wooded area nearest civic 1759, Truro Rd.

Colchester County District RCMP and Ground Search and Rescue (GSAR) volunteers from Colchester, East Hants, Pugwash, Pictou, Musquodoboit Valley, Halifax, Springhill, Sheet Harbour, Eastern Shore, Strait Area, West Hants, Valley, and Annapolis, along with Bible Hill Volunteer Fire, RCMP Police Dog Services, and RCMP Air Services joined together in the search for the man, which began yesterday evening.

More than 600 volunteer hours were incurred during the search covering a two kilometre radius and trails extending up to four kilometres beyond the core search area.
